Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Handy Andy ("the App", "the Service") collects, uses, and protects your information.
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.
We collect only the information necessary to operate and improve the Service and to measure our advertising.
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited app activity and device information with Meta to measure our advertising, as described in section 8.2.
When you use the App, we may collect:
This information helps us improve stability and performance and understand which of our ads lead people to the App.
Emails we send. When we email you, we may record when you open it or click a link in it, so we know which messages are useful and which aren't. You can stop non-essential emails anytime with the link in each email or by replying "stop."
If you use the referral program, we keep your referral code, any code you entered when you signed up, who referred you, and the status of each referral and reward (for example, whether a referred friend's annual subscription qualified and whether we sent your gift card). We use the email on your account to send rewards.
When you add an after photo to a fix, we store it with that fix. When you share a fix from the App, we record that you shared it, which card you used, and whether the money saved and time were shown. We don't receive the posts you publish on other platforms.
Handy Andy uses artificial intelligence to:
Who processes it: OpenAI and Anthropic. When you send Andy a video, photos, a voice note or a description (for a fix, Ask Andy, Build Mode, Home Scan, Tool Scan or Picture It), our server sends that content to OpenAI, L.L.C. or Anthropic, PBC, whose AI models write your plan, answer, or picture. Which company handles a request depends on the feature, and if one of them is unavailable, the other may handle it instead. The App tells you that Andy's AI reads what you share on the screen where you send it, before anything is sent.
Both process your content only to return results to us, and under their API terms neither uses it to train its models. Each deletes it within 30 days; either may keep it longer only to investigate misuse of its service or when the law requires it.
Along with your content we send only what Andy needs for the answer, such as your first name, home details you've saved, or your town for a permit check. We never send either company your email address or payment details, and we do not use your uploaded content to train AI models.
We do not request or intentionally collect:
Use my location. If you tap "Use my location" (to fill in a ZIP code or a street address for a permit check), the App asks iOS for permission, then your phone reads its position once and turns it into an address on the device. The position itself is not sent to us or stored; only the ZIP code or address you choose to save or send reaches us, the same as if you had typed it.
Do not upload sensitive content to the App.
We use your information to:
We do not use the photos, videos, or descriptions you submit for a repair to advertise to you or build an advertising profile.
We implement reasonable administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to protect your information.
However, no system is 100% secure. By using the App, you acknowledge that information may carry risks inherent to all digital services.
We may share limited information with:
Trusted third-party partners who help operate the App, including Google Firebase (sign-in, database and file storage), DigitalOcean (server hosting), OpenAI and Anthropic (AI processing, see section 1.4), RevenueCat (subscription management) and Resend (email delivery). These partners may only use your information to perform agreed services and must protect it.
We may disclose information if required to:
Your referral code includes your first name, and your referral link shows your first name to people you send it to. People who referred you see how many people signed up and joined with their code, not who you are. Images you share from the App are public wherever you post them.
We share limited app activity and device information with Meta so we can measure our ads, as described in section 8.2.
We do not sell personal information.
Handy Andy (Retrify Holdings LLC) sends text messages only to people who check an optional, unchecked box to receive them: homeowners who choose texts about a Find a Pro request, and pros who choose texts about new lead offers. We use your mobile number to send those messages, to process replies such as STOP and HELP, and to keep a record of your consent. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help at any time. See our Text message terms.
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Mobile numbers and text-message consent are never shared with anyone for their own marketing. Our text messaging provider processes them only to deliver our messages.
We retain information:
You may request deletion of your data at any time (see "Your Rights").
Fix videos. Videos you record or upload for a fix are kept for 90 days, so Andy can use them for your fix and you can send them to a pro, then deleted automatically. Your fix keeps a photo from the video and a picture for each step. Tool Scan videos are deleted as soon as Andy has read them. When you send a request through Find a Pro, a copy of that fix's video (without sound) is kept with the request as described in our Find a Pro privacy notice. Deleting your account deletes your videos, photos and fixes.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:
Handy Andy is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
The App may integrate with third-party services (e.g., cloud processing, analytics). These services may have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them if applicable.
Our marketing website (handyandy.app, also reachable at handy-andy.app) uses the Meta Pixel to understand which pages lead to App downloads and to show relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram. The Pixel runs only on the website and never receives the repair photos, videos, or descriptions you submit inside the App. The Pixel may use cookies and share information such as your IP address and browser data with Meta. You can manage how Meta uses this data through your Facebook and Instagram ad settings, and opt out of interest-based advertising generally at optout.aboutads.info.
The App uses Meta's software development kit (SDK) and our subscription provider, RevenueCat, to tell Meta when the App is installed or opened and when you start a trial, subscribe, or renew. This helps us see which of our ads on Facebook and Instagram lead people to the App, and show our ads to people more likely to find it useful. This information may include your device type, operating system, app version, IP address, identifiers specific to the App on your device, and details of the subscription event such as the plan and price. It never includes the photos, videos, or descriptions you submit for a repair.
On iOS, the App asks your permission before tracking. If you choose "Allow," we also share your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). If you choose "Ask App Not to Track," we do not share your advertising identifier, and we tell Meta that you have not given permission to track. You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Meta's use of this information is governed by Meta's Privacy Policy, and you can manage how Meta uses it through your Facebook and Instagram ad settings.
If you are outside the United States, please note:
We comply with GDPR principles of transparency, purpose limitation, and user rights.
The App or website may contain links to third-party sites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Updates will be posted here with a new "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes indicates acceptance.
